The number of vaccinations has declined sharply in Austria. Although experts warn that the fourth wave is getting out of hand, only 3,268 vaccinations were given on Sunday. 1,597 of these were first-time vaccinations (including Johnsson & Johnsson), and 1,671 were second vaccinations. Within the last week, 91,278 vaccine doses were thus administered. In early June, more than 143,000 people were vaccinated on the peak day. In total, 5,490,613 people have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to E-vaccine passport data: That’s 61.5 percent of the population. Meanwhile, exactly 5,189,613, or 58.1 percent of Austrians, are fully immunized.
Full immunization, which experts say protects against a severe course of the disease, has been received by 66.2 percent of the population in Burgenland, followed by Lower Austria (61 percent), Styria (58.9 percent), Vorarlberg (57.7 percent), Tyrol (56.8 percent), Vienna (56.2 percent), Salzburg (54.6) and Carinthia (54.4 percent). Upper Austria continues to bring up the rear with 53.6 percent of full immunizations.
